Sagebrush Events Owner & Lead Event Planner:
Marissa Jacobs Chastain
Marissa loves entertaining, spreadsheets, organizing, delicious food, wildflowers & bringing people together, all ingredients that added up to the perfect formula for starting her business, Sagebrush Events.
A Colorado native from an entrepreneurial family in Boulder, Marissa strongly believes in doing work that lights her up, is aligned with her values, and makes her feel fulfilled, set in a place that she loves to live.
After receiving her B.A. in art history from the University of Colorado at Boulder, Marissa moved to New York City, where she studied fashion design and marketing at Parsons School for Design, and began working in the industry. She worked on the design team for Ralph Lauren and Tory Burch, specializing in fabric research and development. It was in NYC where she honed her aesthetic sense, creative eye, and first found her love for event planning. She started planning events for the Tory Burch Foundation, and knew that this was the work that she loved.
Eventually the mountains called her back to her Colorado home, where she appreciates the community that life out west provides. She gained experience working for a wedding planner and for a local nonprofit in Boulder planning fundraising events before starting Sagebrush Events on her own in 2015. She loves to work with clients to bring their visions to life and to create custom, memorable gatherings.
Marissa is also a certified coach through the Co-Active Training Institute, and uses this skillset to communicate effectively with her clients and vendors. She also coaches other young women who want to start their own entrepreneurial ventures and find their own true paths.
She now lives in Fort Collins, Colorado, where she likes to take advantage of all the growing city has to offer. You will often find her hiking with her rescue dog, Rider, getting out to hit the slopes in the winter, relaxing in a yoga class, trying a new brewery, working on a home improvement project, or cooking for her friends in the backyard.
Marissa is currently planning her own wedding to the love of her life, Michael. They will be married on September 13th in her hometown of Boulder, Colorado.
